Help Us Fight Against Energy Star Fraud

Energy Star has become a trusted symbol for energy efficiency. But manufacturers are taking advantage of the program by claiming Energy Star status when their products do not, in fact, meet the government-mandated Energy Star standards. Energy Star fraud hurts consumers in two ways. First, consumers often pay more for products with an Energy Star label. Second, consumers do not get the promised energy savings and lower utility bills.

Our law firm is conducting an investigation of companies that falsely represent to the government and consumers that their products comply with the government’s Energy Star efficiency guidelines. Due to a lack of government oversight over the program, many consumers have purchased falsely-certified Energy Star products. Many of these products will continue to be falsely advertised and sold as Energy Star efficient products until the fraudulent practices of the products’ manufacturers are exposed. Nearly 3,000 manufacturers already market and sell more than 40,000 different products using the Energy Star label.

We would like to hear from consumers who believe they have purchased a product with the Energy Star label that does not, in fact, meet the government's Energy Star standards. We also would like to hear from other individuals who have insider knowledge that a company has submitted false certification data to the government to receive an Energy Star label.

If you believe you have been defrauded, or have information that a company has falsely certified its efficiency levels to the Energy Star program, please submit the form on this website, or call us at (202) 973-0900 to speak to one of our attorneys.
